Hi there!

I'm Xabier, a 17 year old guy from northern Spain, in the Basque Country, and I live in a seaside town. I’m in my last year of high school. I consider myself a cheerful, responsible, and open minded person. I really enjoy learning new things and getting to know people. I am curious and I like to get involved in everything I do, whether it's studying, chatting, or trying something new. People usually around me say I'm polite, easy to get along with and have a relaxed attitude towards life. I think that's because I try to maintain a positive attitude and not get nervous even when things get complicated, because I believe that makes everything easier.

I love playing basketball, it's my great passion and also a great way to relax. It also helps me learn to work as part of a team, and although it brings out my competitive side, I always play in a healthy and respectful way. Playing clears my mind.I’m also a big fan of music and videos. I am always listening to something, whether I’m studying, chilling, or going for a walk.

My family and friends mean a lot to me. At home, it's just my mom, my older brother, and me. My brother spent last year in the US, studying 12th grade in Virginia. Now he's in college and only comes home on weekends. I love spending time with them and being surrounded by the people I love and enjoying their company.

Friends are also a very important part of my daily life. I spend a lot of time with them, playing sports, laughing, playing games, or having long conversations. I also like children and animals. I've always felt comfortable in their presence and enjoy helping them or playing with them. I tend to be liked by both, young children and animals, and we usually connect easily. Although I don't have a pet, I love them, especially dogs!

I try to help around the house by doing chores and keeping my room tidy. I help out in any way I can. I like a good atmosphere at home and for everyone to get along.

I'm working on improving my English so I can connect with people from all over the world. I used to find it hard to believe I could communicate fluently in English, but now that I have the chance to study and learn in the United States, I'm excited and motivated to make it happen, and I see it as an achievable goal.

I'm really looking forward to learning about American culture and about the daily life of the American people. I'd love to learn more about your traditions, food, and lifestyle. Likewise, I'd also like to share a bit of my culture with you, because the Basque Country has incredible cuisine, a unique language (Basque), and deeply rooted traditions that I'm very proud of.

I think this experience will help me grow as a person. It will be a challenge for sure, but this will motivate me to be stronger and help us bring out our best.

Best regards!

Xabier
