Hello!

My name is Martina, I’m 14 years old. I live in a small village with my mother, my father, my younger sister and my younger brother.I have a very good relation with everyone and we enjoy spending time together, doing different activities, for example playing board games or doing sports. I also love spending time with my two grandmothers and talking about everything. About my pets, I have a dog, chickens and goats. I know it can be strange but my father loves animals and we have always had many animals.

Now I’m going to tell you about myself. I think that I’m a very empathetic and respectful person and I like to help others when they need it. Another adjective that describes me is that I'm very hardworking and I like to always give my best. Also I’m very kind, funny and sociable so I enjoy meeting new people and having good times together. I’m an active person and I love doing sports. My favorite sport is basketball. I play on my town’s team with my friends. I also love skiing in winter with my family. Another activity that I enjoy is dancing. But I like trying new sports and activities, so I think it’s an experience where I can try different sports and activities.

I want to go to the United States because it is a country which attracts me and I also think it's a very different country to Spain, where I can get to know other things that I would never see in my country, like the traditions, culture or food which I think is very different from Spain. I’m a girl who really wants to learn new things and I am very excited to have this different and extraordinary experience. Also I want to go to the USA to learn and improve my English level, which is very important. I think it is a great experience that can help me a lot to be more responsible and independent.

In the United States I hope to make many friends and do different activities together. I also want to spend a lot of time with my host family and have a lot of trust and tell them a lot of things about our country, ourselves, our experiences… In Spain there are different regions with some different traditions. I'm from the region of Catalonia and I would love to share some typical Catalan food with you, like bread with tomato and potato omelette.

We also have cultural festivals specific to the region, for example the Castannyada on November 1st (Chestnut Party) or the "Caga Tió" at Christmas, which I hope to explain to you during my stay, as they are very interesting and funny and I'm sure you will enjoy them.

I would like to create a bond with you. The most important thing and my purpose is to have a great time with you, enjoy it to the fullest and take home an unforgettable experience.
