Dear host family,

My name is Valeria and I am 14 years old. I live in a big city in Spain with my little brother and my parents. I love spending time with them. We love traveling together or just watching movies at weekends. I am very close to my brother but sometimes I fight with him for silly things as all brothers and sisters do. My uncles and aunts live in the same neighborhood as I do. Also my grandmothers.

I’m an active person so in my free time I love to do sports like judo, but I also go to the gym and run, but I would love to practice any other sport. Besides, I love listening to music, reading, meeting friends, drawing or painting. Another hobby that I have is cooking. I usually cook pastries with my uncle and my aunt. But the thing I love the most is going to my village. My village is very small, but I love going there because of that. People know each other and we are like a big family. I have many friends there and I do activities like collecting apples from the trees or going to the vegetable patch. I can describe myself as enthusiastic and a positive person, my friends often say that I’m very positive because I always try to find solutions when something goes wrong, and I like helping others whenever I can. Also I’m independent, funny, confident and resposible.

I am great at school and I think that is because I’m a hard-worker and I try my best to have good marks. I like going to school because I learn and enjoy a lot with my friends. I have four close friends at school, and I spend time with them going to different places like the shopping center. We are like sisters. My favourites subjects at school are biology or chemistry. In general I love Science. Last year I was a finalist in a big writing contest in my city.

As you can see in my presentation video or pictures I’m now wearing braces, but I will get them taken off before going to the States.

I have to say that it was my parents who suggested me years ago to have this experience and at first I didn’t like to, but as years passed by I realized that I really wanted to have this kind of experience and now I'm very excited. I think it is a good chance to live in another culture different from mine, knowing new people and improving my English level. I would love to play new sports and do new things.

I’m looking forward to learning about you and your culture, your school system, how families spend their free time, and I will love to become part of your daily life, to have great moments and to build a strong and respectful relationship with you. From my side, I will share some traditions from my country with you, a positive and adaptable attitude and to create a good family atmosphere.

Best regards,

Valeria
