Spain Dear family,
Hi, my name is Danel, I am 14 years old, I come from the Basque Country in Spain and I am writing this letter to let you know about me, my family, personality, my life intentions, my passion, my intentions with this year abroad and my hobbies.
My passion is soccer. I play as a goalkeeper at my local town's club. I currently play with the first team, which gathers the best players of my category in the club.
Apart from playing soccer, I also enjoy watching it. My father and I usually go watch Real Sociedad (my favourite soccer team) every time they play. We have sometimes even travelled to various countries around Europe just to see them. For example, last year we went to Manchester for the Europe League, and two years ago we went to Lisbon to watch the Champions League match against Benfica.
Others of my hobbies are hiking, riding my bike, playing video games (my favourite one is FIFA), listening to music and playing the drums.
Every weekend I meet my friends and we go out, we usually play soccer, go to a cafeteria or just stay all together around there.
My family is composed of my parents, my brother and our cat. My grandparents from my mother’s side live in the same town as me, and I go to their house with my sibling every week to have lunch with them. My grandparents from my dad’s side, on the other hand, live in a different town. We usually go visit them every month, more or less. In the case of my uncles, we meet on special occasions such as Christmas, summer holidays or birthdays.
If I had to describe myself I would say that I am kind, sociable and organized.
I don't have trouble making friends, but I prefer to have a few very good friends rather than having a lot of bad friends.
I like helping my grandfather in the orchard or my grandmother doing the shopping to be with them.
The most important thing for me about my year abroad is to learn about American history and to know more about the culture, then improve my English level and last but not least to learn to be auto-sufficient.
I am not really sure yet about what I am going to do in the future, or what I am going to study, but for now I think I will go to university and try to work for something I like.
Thank you for letting me be part of your family. I hope to meet you soon.
