Dear host family,  

Let me introduce myself: My name is Alba, and I’m 14 years at the moment of writing this letter, but I will be 15 when I will be there.  

As you may now, I’m from Spain, and I live in a big town with my parents and my pets (a dog named Coco and a cat named Luna). I don’t have any brothers or sisters, but I’d have liked to have one. I have a big family, and we love getting together on Christmas or for a birthday. I love being with my family and making fun plans with them like going out to have dinner, or watching a movie at home sometimes and traveling with them to visit new places.

Right now, I’m doing 9th grade in a small school that is near my house, and I’m doing good. I love biology and physics most of all.  

About my personality, I think I’m a cheerful, respectful, decided, kind, athletic, outgoing and hardworking person, because whenever I have a goal, I try my best until I achieve it. People also describe me as a person that is always ready to help.  

Some of my hobbies are swimming (I’m in a swimming club and I compete), painting, reading, hanging out with my friends, cooking, going shopping, going out for dinner and listening to music. I love swimming because I have been practicing it since I was little, and I’ve been going to painting classes since I was little too, but I had to stop because I didn’t have enough time, but I would like to go again. I usually listen to reggaeton or pop, and I love a singer called Mora. When I cook, I love making pistachio and chocolate cookies and making typical Spanish dishes like tortilla de patatas.  

I have a group of friends at school. They are so special to me, because we’ve known each other for many years. I usually hang out with them, and we do things like walking through the neiborhood, going downtown, going to the cinema, or things like just having small meals all together. I also have a group of friends in my swimming team, and I’ve known them since I was 8 years old.  

My main goal in life is to return to Spain and study medicine here. After that, I want to have my dream job and make a big family, and my main goals during my stay abroad are to have the best and most incredible experience of my life, meeting new people, making unforgettable memories and to improve my English a lot and feel like a real American girl.  

Since I was very young, one of my dreams was doing an exchange year in the US, because I have family living there, and the first time I went to visit them, I fell in love with your country.  

Another reason why I want to do an exchange year is that I would love to learn more things about your culture and US history. Some things that catch my attention are how schools work and how important sports are there. 

 I would like to try foods like Crumble cookies or Chilli’s, I also would like to have the great opportunity of watching an American football game that the schools make, trying new sports like cheerleading or volleyball and visiting new places or trying new things.  

I hope to share every little detail with your family if you accept me.
