Spain Dear future host family.
First of all thanks for considering me as your exchange student, this means a lot!
My name is Nerea, and I’m 14 years old as I write this letter. I live in Spain, in a city in the south by the sea.
I live with my mother, her partner, and my cat. I also love visiting my grandmother, so I could say I live with her too.
To describe myself, I would say I am a fun, friendly, positive and caring person. I‘ve always had a strong personality, and I think that makes me unique and gives me a big heart.
I love going out with my friend. Every time we go out, we get ice cream, talk, and laugh together. They are very important in my life. Some of them I have known since primary school, we grew up together and they are part of my life and childhood. Others, I met through volleyball. When I joined volleyball, I didn’t know anyone, but I approached them and talked to them, and I’m so glad I did because we formed an amazing bond and a great team. The friends you make through sports always stay with you.
I’m also a very responsible and organized person. I always plan my time well, especially when I have exams or other activities. I’m someone who can’t stay still and I like to make the most of my time.
At first, I’m a bit shy, but it’s not a problem because I quickly become talkative and fun.
I love listening to music, especially in English. I’ve listened to it since I was little because I’ve always been passionate about English. One of my favorite groups is ABBA, which I started loving because of Mamma Mia!. I also like older bands such Oasis or Arctic Monkeys.
I love watching series and movies. When I watch something in Spanish, I often watch it again in English. A good example is the Harry Potter movies. I've always loved those types of movies.
Lastly, I love doing sports. For me, it is essential. I have played volleyball and, when I was younger, I also did roller skating.
I love spending time with my family, they have always supported me unconditionally. They have encouraged me, stood by my side, and have always been proud of who I am.
My family is made up of my mother, my grandmother, her partner and my cat. I love animals, and I’ve always cared deeply for mine. My mother has always been there for me and supported all my decisions. My grandmother has also helped raise me since I was young, and she is one of the people I love the most in the world and someone very important in my life. I never get tired of spending time with her.
My father is also one of the people I love the most and someone very important in my life.
My main hobby is volleyball. I’ve always enjoyed playing it. Roller skating has always come naturally to me and was a big part of my childhood.
As I mentioned, I love going out with my friends. I could say another of my hobbies is being creative, whether for school projects or anything else.
One of my dreams has always been to become a preschool teacher. It's something I have wanted since primary school, and it has never changed. I’m working hard in my studies to achieve what I want, and I know I will make it. I’ve always loved young children and I feel confident that I will be prepared to work with them.
To become a teacher, you must choose a subject, and I will definitely choose English, because languages have always been my favorite.
My goals for my exchange year are to get to know my future host family, spend time with them, meet new people, and learn more about American culture, which I love. They may seem like small things, but to me they are meaningful and exciting.
Thank you so much for reading this letter. This means a lot to me.
I am looking forward to meeting you. Thank you again for choosing me.
See you soon!
Nerea.
