Australia Dear Host Family,
First of all, thank you so much for opening your home and heart to me as an exchange student. I truly appreciate the opportunity to become part of your family and experience life in the United States. It means a lot that you are willing to welcome someone from another country, and I am very excited about the journey ahead. I look forward to learning about your traditions, sharing my experiences, and creating lasting memories together.
I come from a loving home with my mum, dad, my sister, and our two dogs. Family is very important to me, and I enjoy spending time together, whether it’s relaxing at home, sharing meals, or doing small activities as a family. I feel lucky to have grown up in such a supportive environment, and I hope to bring that same positivity and care into my host family’s home. I enjoy helping out at home, whether it’s cooking, tidying, or just being present and supportive.
I have always dreamed of experiencing the American high school lifestyle. I’ve seen it in movies and TV shows, and I want to know what it’s really like. I admire the school spirit — the sports games, pep rallies, clubs, and sense of community — which feels very different from school here in Australia. I would love to be part of that energy, make friends, and experience a school community like that. I am also excited to explore American culture, try new foods, and see the traditions and routines that make life in your country unique.
Travelling and exploring new places is something I love. For me, it’s not just about visiting famous landmarks, but truly living and experiencing the environment and culture. The USA has incredible landscapes, like Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and Yosemite, which I would love to see. I am also curious about visiting cities such as New York or Los Angeles, as well as America's famous theme parks and local attractions. I want to experience both the big highlights and the small everyday moments that make life memorable.
At school, my electives are design, media arts, and business. I especially enjoy design and media arts as I find these to be a creative outlet. Mathematics is also one of my favourite subjects because I enjoy problem-solving and structure. I stay organized with homework and classwork, and before exams, I spend extra time revising to make sure I understand everything. Sometimes I study independently, and other times I ask my parents for help with brainstorming or quizzing me.
Outside of school, I enjoy shopping, fashion, makeup, dance, art, travelling, and spending time with friends and family. Dance has been a big part of my life since I was three years old, especially contemporary and ballet. Dance has taught me discipline, teamwork, creativity, and resilience, and it is something I look forward to every week.
A typical school day starts around 7:00 am. I get up, do my hair and makeup, get dressed, brush my teeth, and pack my bag, then get in the car to leave for school at around 7:50 am. My day consists of six periods with two breaks, and my timetable alternates between A and B weeks, which keeps things interesting.
I would describe myself as loyal, caring, empathetic, determined, independent, and fun-loving. I work hard at school but also enjoy life and friendships. I value honesty, openness, and respect for others are important to me - particularly in times of disagreement, while still respecting privacy and personal boundaries. I also love to laugh — having a sense of humour makes life more enjoyable and helps me connect with others.
In my future host family, I hope to become a real part of your family, not just a guest. I want to share experiences, create memories, and contribute positively to your home and community. I am open to all opportunities, both at school and in the community, and I am excited to make the most of every moment of this exchange. Thank you again for considering me and welcoming me into your home. I truly cannot wait to meet you.
