Hello future host family,

 First of all, I'd like to thank you for considering me as a candidate to stay your home for the next academic year. Now, let me introduce myself:

My name is Hugo, and I'm 15 years old. I live with my parents; I don't have any brothers or sisters, but I see my grandparents a lot. Unfortunately, the rest of my family lives too far away for me to visit often, but I have some aunts and uncles and my cousin who live about an hour away, amd other two that live a bit further .The rest of my family lives very far away, like my three younger cousins ​​who live in another country.

Why would I like to study in the USA?

Well, I would like to travel, to meet new people, discover the world, culture. I'd also like to see things that are probably simple for you, like school lockers, a yellow school bus, a Walmart, and countless other things I've only ever seen in movies or on social media. Going to the USA has been something I've wanted since I was little; the idea of traveling, meeting people, trying new things, seeing different cultures.

Speaking more about myself, I do a lot of extracurricular activities, such as: First, I play badminton. I recently moved up a level, and I'm meeting new people. Another sport I love is swimming. I've been swimming for many years, and one of our traditions is to play pranks on our coach. As for non-sporting activities, I play the guitar, or at least I try to; I'm still learning. I've participated in the debate tournament for several years, placing first in my regionin 2024, and in the Maker Drone League, where our goal was to create a drone that fulfilled a specific purpose even “Proxecto Micromundo” A microbiology activity where we had search for and antibiotic bacteria, which was a lot of fun . But of all my extracurricular activities, my favorite is Robotics. I really like technology, and in robotics, I not only have a great time with friends, but we're also learning to use Arduino boards and slowly learning to program in C++.

But all of these were just hobbies or extracurricular activities. What I like to do most is be with the people I love, not just my family, with whom I have a great time and do lots of things. With my parents, I watch movies and series, but my favorites are mystery or science fiction. I also spend time with my little cousins, who make me run around and jump from one place to another.

But I also have a great time with my best friends Santi, Yova, Dani, Andrea, Saínza, and Lúa. We go out to eat, hang out, and have fun. We often like to play video games and talk about everything, but something that characterizes us is that we love playing board games of all kinds, whether they're card games, board games, or games that are more about luck, strategy, or skill.

But sadly, I can't spend all my time with friends and family, and when I'm alone, I usually read, listen to music, or do something on my phone, like play games or check social media. As for music, which is something that accompanies me most of the time, many people have asked me what kind of music I listen to, but it's a question I can't answer, because I don´t know ethier. My playlist is a bit of a mix, but Ed Sheeran and Morat are some of the artists that stand out. And for books, it's similar to the movies and series I watch with my parents; I mainly prefer science fiction and mystery, although in my school's book club, they introduced me to different titles and themes that I really enjoyed. Regarding my phone, I mostly play games because I only have WhatsApp and TikTok as social media.

I would define myself as a positive person, mostly sociable, although I like to be alone and quiet from time to time. I consider myself responsible in most things, although I sometimes get stressed, I usually find a way to solve the problem. And even though I'm not very good at sports, I like to have fun and give my best whenever I can.
