Dear Host Family,

First of all, thank you for your hospitality.
My name is Juliette and I’m 17 years old. I live in France, with my parents. I have two brothers: one is younger and one is older. I spend most of my time with them playing video games, playing football, watching series or YouTube videos, or just having fun together. I love spending time with them, seeing them, and talking to them but I am also independent, this is why I am not afraid to do this exchange year ;)

I share a passion for travel with my mom. I love discovering new people and new cultures! I love adventure, doing water sports and snorkeling. With my dad, I enjoy playing sports, watching football games on TV, but I love going with him to my grandparents’ place to have dinner together and talk for hours. We also do a lot of amusement parks with him and my brothers; we love it, especially the thrill rides. I also used to play tennis with him.
Even though I can be sociable and very close to my family, I love spending time with my friends or by myself. I really like to do activities with my friends like watching a movie or going shopping with them. I also love hanging out with them after school or on the weekends. By myself, I’m a creative and curious person; I love trying new things, I love cooking, I love listening to music, drawing, reading, and learning. I’m someone who loves making jokes ; I laugh a lot! I like taking care of myself, having beautiful clothes, and going shopping; I could spend an entire day shopping.

I love animals, especially cats; I have my own cat, her name is Fidji, and she helps me be responsible. I’m a positive person and I love meeting new people and making new friends. I believe that teenage years are a crucial time for self-discovery and trying new experiences. This is why I am very excited to spend a year in the United States as an exchange student.
This year I would like to participate in a human experience and live THE American dream. I would love to try new things like going to football games, doing new sports that are specific to the United States, try traditional food but also fast food. I’m also excited to discover a new family and be involved in their activities. I can’t wait to see the American school, the American teachers, and make American friends.

I would love to be included in every little thing you do, I am sure these little things will become unforgettable memories and funny stories I will remember forever.
I want to try everything like going to Walmart or Target, going to American McDonald’s, watching American shows like Jimmy Fallon, or go to a hockey match. Actually, I absolutely hate saying « no », which is why I’ll be eager to participate in any activities.

One of my biggest dreams is to celebrate Thanksgiving because I love autumn; it’s one of my favorite seasons along with summer. Halloween is also my favorite holiday, so I really expect to experience it in America! I really love autumn. I love Christmas too; I think the decorations are just beautiful and I want to see the magic of Christmas in the USA with my own eyes. I’m sure I would be absolutely amazed.

I love the beach, and the sun! With my mom, we go to the south of France every summer to tan at the beach and enjoy the heat. I think summer might be my favorite season.
I also love sharing cultures; this is why I want to be involved with my host family too. I’m really eager to be involved in my host family in every way possible, whether it’s joining in on neighborhood gatherings, helping with holiday decorations, participating in family activities, or meeting the family’s friends. I’m very dynamic and committed! I’m very helpful, responsible, and polite.

This experience will obviously also help me overcome the language barrier in various situations and it will allow me to meet even more people and make new connections.
I can’t wait to live this experience with you.

Best regards,
Juliette
