Dear Host Family

I can’t wait to meet you, but in the meantime, let me introduce myself.
My name is G., and I’m a calm, respectful, kind, very creative, and outgoing girl, although I can be a little shy at first, I love meeting new people, trying new experiences, making lots of friends, and I’m someone who dreams big. I enjoy learning new things through studying or listening to podcasts, and I have a strong interest in psychology, philosophy, and reading novels, especially mysteries and fantasy.

I’m quite good at painting and drawing, and I use it as a way to express myself and unwind. Every Friday, I attend a painting class with a professional artist who gives me advice and helps me improve. After a long week of school, it’s a great way to relax and recharge, there’s a lovely atmosphere, and we can chat and have a snack while we paint.

My family consists of four people: my mom, dad, and two older brothers. We have a very close relationship, and I feel lucky to be part of such a supportive and loving family. We also have a 14 year old dog called Spillo who’s grown up with me, I’m very attached to him, and a cat named Maya.

At school, I attend a high school specializing in human sciences, with a focus on social and economic studies. Unlike the regular human sciences track, my program includes subjects like psychology and sociology, but also law and economics, and instead of Latin, we study French.
My favorite subject is psychology because I love studying human behavior and understanding how people think and act. Overall, I really enjoy my school; I’m in a wonderful class with great relationships among all of us, and we get along really well. Our teachers are also truly excellent.

I love listening to music of all kinds, doing sports (I’d like to try some new ones!), baking desserts, writing, and trying out new activities. I’m quite organized and I like to balance studying with doing things I enjoy or spending time with friends.

I decided to become an exchange student because I would really like to know more about American culture and, in general, different ways of living. Also, I want to improve my English because it’s a language I really like and I think it’s very important for my future.
I’m sure that this trip and this experience will help me to know myself better and to become more independent and mature and I also believe that it will open many doors for my future and help me create connections with new people.

I would really like to build a good relationship with my host family, spend time with them and do activities together. I’m also happy to share a bit of my culture with them, maybe by cooking something from my country or bringing some of my traditions. I think these moments will be very special for me, and I’m sure I will always remember them.

I know that at the beginning everything will feel new and maybe a little bit hard. Living far from my family and adapting to a different culture will be a challenge, but I’m ready for it. I believe that every difficult moment will help me grow stronger, and that I’ll come back home with more confidence, independence, and new perspectives.
I’m really excited to meet you and start this new adventure together, thank you very much for reading my letter, I’m really happy to have the chance to live this experience, and I can’t wait to meet you soon.

Warm regards,
G.
